Building Resilient Communities through Integrated Development

Shishu Niloy Foundation (SNF) believes that sustainable development can only be achieved by addressing both the social and economic needs of vulnerable communities. To fulfil this vision, the organization implements two complementary development wings: the Social Development Program (SDP) and the Economic Development Program (EDP). Together, these programs empower individuals, strengthen families, and promote inclusive, self-reliant, and resilient communities.

Social Development Program (SDP)

The Social Development Program focuses on improving the quality of life of disadvantaged and marginalized people through awareness, capacity building, and essential social services. The program emphasizes human development, social inclusion, and community participation.

Major Program Areas

  • Education and lifelong learning initiatives
  • Primary healthcare, nutrition, and health awareness
  • Women’s empowerment and gender equality
  • Prevention of domestic violence and promotion of human rights
  • Integrated agriculture and food security initiatives
  • Entrepreneurship and skills development
  • Adolescent development and leadership programs
  • Elderly care and social support
  • Community awareness and social mobilization activities

Through these interventions, SNF promotes dignity, equality, healthy living, and opportunities for every member of the community.

Economic Development Program (EDP)

The Economic Development Program aims to improve the financial well-being of low-income households by providing inclusive financial services and livelihood support. The program enables poor and marginalized families to build assets, expand income-generating activities, and achieve long-term economic stability.

Savings Services

SNF encourages a culture of savings by offering secure and accessible savings schemes, including:

  • Compulsory Savings
  • Long-Term Savings
  • Other member-oriented savings services

Credit and Livelihood Support

The organization operates diversified microfinance and livelihood financing programs designed to meet the different needs of its members. These include:

  • Mainstream Microfinance Operations:
    • Jagoron
    • Agrosor
    • Buniad
    • Sufolon
  • Agriculture and livelihood-oriented financing
  • Entrepreneurship and microenterprise development financing

  • Safety-net financial support for group members through SNF’s Microfinance Program (MFP) branches

These financial services enable beneficiaries to establish and expand businesses, improve agricultural productivity, create employment opportunities, and increase household income.

Our Integrated Development Approach

SNF recognizes that social progress and economic empowerment are interconnected. By combining social development initiatives with inclusive financial services, the organization helps individuals and families become educated, healthy, economically productive, and socially empowered. This integrated approach creates lasting positive change and contributes to poverty reduction, sustainable livelihoods, and resilient communities across its program areas.
